چکیده

Skin and Soft Tissue Infections (SSTIs) are considered as non-fatal burden with significant morbidity disability. The important challenge of severe SSTIs is choosing a drug for empirical treatment. From this region, only limited local antibiogram data available. To determine the frequency different aerobic bacteria isolated from patients attending dermatology surgery departments GH, Karaikal to study antibiotic resistance pattern isolates. This prospective, cross-sectional 100 samples. Standard protocol was followed collection, processing, identification susceptibility testing. All isolates were screened methicillin subsequently subjected Oxacillin E-strip Vancomycin know minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value. Isolates Gram negative bacilli resistant one or more carbapenems tested carbapenemase production using Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method (MCIM) multi (MDR) organisms identified. Most effective sensitive (MSSA) Clindamycin (82.75%), Gentamicin (80.95%) Cotrimoxazole (75%). (MRSA) incidence 6.89% (2/29). Around 66.67% (4/6) Cefoxitin resistant. carbapenem found be 13.88% (5/36). 43.13% (22/51) MDR. presence MRSA producing worrisome. Further, routine surveillance needed monitor trends in pattern. However, paves way judicious use antibiotics treatment prevent development future.

Antibiotic resistance pattern of bacterial isolates from skin and soft tissue infections

Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) can be defined as ‘an inflammatory microbial invasion of the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissues’. 1 It is quite commonly encountered in clinical practice, encompassing a wide variety of presentations ranging from simple impetigo to life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis. The SSTIs are usually caused by Gram positive bacteria like Staphylococcus au...

Skin and soft tissue infection: frequency of aerobic bacterial isolates and their antimicrobial susceptibility pattern.

In recent years, skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs), particularly due to multidrugresistant pathogens is increasingly being encountered in clinical setting. SSTIs may range from simple uncomplicated superficial infections such as folliculitis, cellulitis, abscesses to deeper complicated infections such as necrotising fasciitis and diabetic foot. Complicated SSTIs contribute to longer hospi...

Antibiotic resistance pattern of bacterial agents isolated from blood culture of patients with infective endocarditis

Background: Infective endocarditis occurs due to the presence of microorganisms in the endocardium or the heart valves. Nowadays, infective endocarditis is still a major cause of death with an incidence rate of 5 to 7.9 per 100,000 populations. The aim of the study was to determine antibiotic resistance pattern of bacterial agents isolated from blood culture of patients with infective endocardi...
